Should I be cool about it? Proud? Apprehensive? I'm not sure.

What I do know is that, this morning, I found myself left foot braking without giving it any conscious thought at all. Smoothly, without trying to head-butt the windshield. Only as I come off the brake I realise that I used my left foot. I guess LFB has been added to my muscle memory.

I'd be proud. I was when I found myself double-clutch downshifting without thinking. Any more advanced technique you add to your repertoire is a good thing.

I'd be more impressed by managing that camera angle.

Sadly, I cannot left-foot-brake in my car, as some old people back in the 20th century couldn't figure out this whole car thing, so Audi has a throttle/brake interlock. :|

The thing is, I can do a lot of advanced not-usefull-on-public-roads stuff. But that's "on demand", consciously deciding to do so. This was different.

Trail braking? Yep. Heel-and-toe (well, side-flip) braking and downshifting? Yep. If I wear the right shoes. With what's pictured, I don't have enough shoe width. Clutchless upshift? I try to restrain myself, no need to bomb my gearbox. Same for hot-shifting/flat-shifting. Double-clutched downshift? That too. Though with a synchronised gearbox, that's quite useless.

Oh, yes, and I blip / rev-match every downshift. That I do instinctively too. But to me that's not a racing skill per sé, that's just smooth driving.

no. and don't drive while dragging the brake. unless you're a woman, can't really tell from the shoes...in which case, stop doing that.

What, me a woman, with EUR size 45 (US 12) shoes? ;)

The foot rest left of the clutch is where my left foot rests while not pressing either clutch or brake.

The double clutching thing was a habit developed from a car with syncros that didn't do their job properly. I still swear it helps the shift lever go perfectly smoothly into gear rather than the slight resistance from the synchros doing their thing.

In any case, congrats on getting the LFB down that well. It was never something I took the time to master.

I find the same thing with double clutching. Haven't ever really been able to tell if it is a placebo effect though.

I will drive my automatic camry like that from time to time, just to keep my brain active.

I see you used the new GoPro "pole mount" for this angle.

I gotta re-check. This is Jalopnik, right? Not Fleshbot. Right?
